Historical Overview

The A-7 Corsair II attack aircraft, designed by Vought, was the successor to the famous F-8 Crusader. The A-7D (for the USAF) and A-7E (for the US Navy) variants entered service in the late 1960s. This aircraft was notable for its high weapons payload and, for its time, modern avionics. The A-7 saw combat during the Vietnam War, as well as in other conflicts and peacekeeping operations, including Operation Desert Storm. These aircraft were renowned for their precise ground attacks and reliability.

Kit Details

The kit allows you to choose between the A-7D and A-7E variants, differing in equipment details and paint schemes. The sprues include a finely detailed cockpit with consoles and an instrument panel, realistically integrated drop tanks and armament (including bombs and guided missiles), and optional decals for several authentic USAF and US Navy unit paint schemes. The model does not include glue or paints.

The size of the kit components and the clarity of the instructions make this model an excellent choice for intermediate modelers and military aviation enthusiasts. Assembly is challenging and previous experience with building several models in this scale is recommended.

Why Choose This Kit?

The Hasegawa PT47 A-7D/E Corsair II in 1:48 scale is recommended for both military aviation collectors and enthusiasts of 20th-century military technology history. The high level of detail and accurate reproduction make it possible to build an impressive model for dioramas or display.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
