Revell 63783 Panavia Tornado IDS-GR.1 1/144

Revell 63783 Panavia Tornado IDS-GR.1 1/144 is a precise and perfectly detailed plastic model kit designed for military aviation enthusiasts—from the Cold War era to modern times. The Panavia Tornado aircraft, in both the IDS (Interdictor/Strike) and GR.1 variants, was developed as an international project between the UK, Germany, and Italy. For decades, it was one of NATO's key aircraft, gaining a reputation as a reliable strike aircraft on all the most important military theaters from the 1980s onwards.

The IDS and GR.1 versions took part in many major operations, including the Gulf War (1991), combat missions over the Balkans in the 1990s, and conflicts in Afghanistan. These aircraft were used by the Royal Air Force (UK), the Luftwaffe (Germany), and the Italian Air Force. Its tremendous speed, variable-sweep wing system, and broad range of weaponry have made the Tornado one of the most versatile bombers and strike fighters in NATO's arsenal.

  • Scale: 1/144 – ideal when you have limited display space
  • Material: high-quality plastic, detailed reproduction with no metal or resin add-ons
  • Movable parts: variable-sweep wings allow for realistic presentation of the model
  • Decals: includes RAF (United Kingdom) and Luftwaffe (Germany) markings
  • Period of service: Cold War – present day (1980s – present)
  • The model represents an aircraft used in key NATO military operations
  • Category: plastic model kit

The kit is designed for beginner and intermediate modelers—difficulty level 2/5. The assembly instructions are clear, and the sharply reproduced fuselage details and the movable wing system make the build satisfying, even for less experienced hobbyists. We recommend this kit to every aviation enthusiast and to collectors of NATO combat aircraft models. An excellent choice to start a collection of late 20th-century military hardware.

Scale
1/144

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
