The RS Models 92269 kit represents the legendary German transport glider DFS-230 in a limited "Unternehmen Eiche" edition in 1/72 scale. This plastic assembly model is a faithful miniature of the aircraft that played a key role in one of the most spectacular commando operations of World War II – the rescue of Benito Mussolini from Gran Sasso in 1943, known as "Operation Oak" (Unternehmen Eiche).

DFS-230 – an icon of German airborne transport

The DFS-230 was a glider designed for silent, rapid deployment of troops behind enemy lines and supplying frontline units. Its main user was the Luftwaffe during World War II (1939–1945). The construction was based on a wooden fuselage with mixed wood–metal wings. The aircraft was towed by machines such as the Ju 52 or He 111, and its ability to land on small clearings or fortified points made it extremely versatile. The cargo bay accommodated 9 soldiers or 1,200 kg of equipment – weapons, ammunition, radios, or even small anti-tank guns.
