The PZL P.11B Early, designed in the late 1920s by a team led by engineer Zygmunt Puławski, remains today a symbol of Polish resistance during September 1939. It was a single-seat, single-engine high-wing monoplane of metal construction covered with fabric and featured the characteristic "Puławski wing." The aircraft was powered by a reliable Bristol Mercury VI S2 engine producing up to 600 hp, enabling it to reach a maximum speed of about 375 km/h. Its main armament consisted of four 7.92 mm machine guns, allowing for effective fire from the fuselage.

Historically, the PZL P.11B Early gained fame during the September 1939 campaign as the main Polish fighter, fighting against the overwhelming forces of the Luftwaffe. It was used, among others, in the Battle of Warsaw and other key engagements of September. Despite being technologically outdated compared to its opponents, thanks to the excellent training of Polish pilots, the PZL P.11B Early achieved significant individual successes.
