Montex SM48555 AVRO ANSON for AIRFIX 1/48 – Paint Mask Set for Aircraft Model

The Montex SM48555 product is a professional paint mask set designed for the AVRO ANSON model in 1/48 scale from Airfix. This set is an indispensable aid for modelers who require the highest precision when painting cockpit glazing as well as national and functional markings on the aircraft.

  • Model Scale: 1/48
  • For: AIRFIX AVRO ANSON
  • Category: modeling accessory – foil paint masks
  • Material: high-quality black matte foil and semi-transparent masking foil
  • Model user country: United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries
  • Historical period: World War II

The Avro Anson is a British twin-engine multi-role aircraft widely used by the RAF since 1936 and throughout World War II, mainly as a trainer, patrol, and reconnaissance machine. It was used, among others, during the Battle of the Atlantic for anti-submarine warfare and convoy protection, and its characteristic cockpit glazing requires great precision when painting scale models.

Set includes:

  • Cockpit masks (Mini Mask, Maxi Mask, Super Mask) – dedicated for cockpit glazing with the possibility of painting the frames both from outside and inside
  • Stencil templates for painting markings (roundels, letters, chevrons, etc.) – developed based on decals and archival materials
  • Colored marking placement diagrams – helpful for correct model painting

Cockpit masks are made of black matte foil ensuring excellent contrast with the glazing, which allows for exceptionally precise application. Thanks to a specially selected adhesive, the masks perfectly adhere even to curved surfaces, eliminating the need for liquid mask. Stencil templates for painting markings are made from flexible, semi-transparent foil with delicate adhesive, leaving no residue or damaging the paint layer.

The Montex SM48555 set is recommended both for intermediate and advanced modelers who want to achieve an authentic cockpit effect and faithfully reproduce historical markings. Difficulty level: 2/5 – a very good option for those wishing to improve the efficiency and quality of painting, without worrying about damaging the model during painting work.

An excellent addition to any model aircraft collection from the World War II era. Professional masks allow you to achieve outstanding finish quality and emphasize the distinctive details of the Avro Anson.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
