Eduard 8092 P-400 1/48 – Plastic model kit of a WWII fighter aircraft

Eduard 8092 P-400 in 1/48 scale is a highly detailed plastic model kit from the renowned manufacturer Eduard. The model depicts the American P-400 fighter – an export version of the famous Bell P-39 Airacobra. It was originally ordered by the British Purchase Commission in the United States, but after the outbreak of hostilities in the Pacific, especially following the attack on Pearl Harbor, most units ended up with the United States and its allies. These aircraft played a significant role in the South West Pacific, supporting Allied operations and serving with both American and Australian air forces.

The P-400 version was used during World War II, particularly between 1942-1944. It was known as a reliable machine, equipped with British 20 mm armament, and featured the innovative engine arrangement positioned behind the pilot's cockpit—a hallmark of this design.

  • Scale: 1/48 – allows for a high level of detail and realistic reproduction
  • Historical period: World War II (Pacific Theater, 1942–1944)
  • Countries of use: USA, United Kingdom, and Allied forces operating in the South West Pacific
  • Category: plastic model kit
  • Material: high-quality plastic
  • Included: Eduard decals for 5 painting schemes, pre-painted photo-etched (PE) parts, painting mask for canopy and wheels
  • Kit contents: glue and paints not included
  • No resin parts – the model relies exclusively on plastic and photo-etched elements

Eduard 8092 P-400 1/48 is especially recommended for ambitious modelers looking for a complete set with rich accessories from the ProfiPACK edition. The high precision of the details, included photo-etched parts, and painting mask make it much easier to recreate realistic details both inside the cockpit and on the exterior parts. The decals allow for building five different historical and operational variants.

We rate the assembly difficulty as 3/5 – the kit requires moderate experience, skill in working with PE parts, and basic knowledge of masking and painting techniques.

This is the perfect choice for WWII aviation enthusiasts and for those looking to expand their collection with a highly historically accurate P-400 Airacobra model.

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
