Italeri 6462 LVT-2 AMTRAC (1/35) – Plastic model kit

The Italeri 6462 LVT-2 AMTRAC in 1/35 scale is a high-quality replica of the amphibious armored transporter used by the United States Army during World War II. The LVT-2, also known as the "Water Buffalo," was developed by the Food Machinery Corporation (FMC) as an improved version of the original LVT-1. This vehicle was widely used in Pacific landing operations, including the famous battles of Saipan, Tarawa, and Iwo Jima, where it played a crucial role in transporting soldiers, equipment, and supplies directly from transport ships to shore.

The LVT-2 AMTRAC was widely used between 1942–1945, primarily by the US Marine Corps and US Army. These vehicles greatly increased the effectiveness and safety of amphibious landings, overcoming terrain obstacles and Japanese fortifications on Pacific islands. It featured a robust design, tracked drive, and the ability to traverse both water and challenging beach terrain. Approximately 2,900 LVT-2s were produced, with a small number also used by the British Army.

  • Model scale: 1/35
  • Country of use: United States (US Army, US Marines); a few vehicles in the British Army

The included decals enable you to recreate vehicles from various combat units.

This product is recommended for both World War II history enthusiasts and collectors of amphibious vehicles, as well as modelers building dioramas. Recommended difficulty level is 3/5 – the model is dedicated to those with modeling experience but can also be successfully built by ambitious intermediate modelers. Grow your passion and expand your collection with the American “Water Buffalo” – a key vehicle in the Pacific island landings!

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
