The ZSU-23-4V1 variant was used in combat both by Soviet forces and other countries (including Poland, East Germany, and Middle Eastern states). It saw action during the Yom Kippur War (1973), the Afghanistan conflict, and numerous local Cold War conflicts, extending into modern times.
