The German Geschützwagen was a prototype self-propelled gun designed on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. IV tank. It was intended to serve as a mobile platform for heavier field artillery, especially on the Eastern Front where range and firepower were crucial. Such vehicles were tested towards the end of the war, mainly in 1945, but due to production difficulties and the frontline situation, only small numbers saw front-line service.
