History of the Aero Ab-101

The Aero Ab-101 aircraft was developed in Czechoslovakia as an advancement of the earlier A.100 model. Despite a lukewarm reception from the domestic military, the aircraft gained appreciation abroad – the Spanish Republican Forces ordered 50 units for use during the civil war (1936–1939). Some of these aircraft were also captured by Nationalist forces. At the peak of mobilization in 1938, as many as 60 units served in the Czechoslovak Air Force, and after the occupation of the country by Germany in 1939, they were taken over by the Wehrmacht.
