Description and history of the ship:

SMS Szent István was one of four Tegetthoff-class battleships built for the Austro-Hungarian Navy. She entered service in July 1914, right before the outbreak of World War I. The ship was a world pioneer in terms of armament – she was equipped with the world’s first triple gun turrets with 305 mm Škoda guns. The vessel was characterized by a wide, heavy hull, powered by engines with 27,000 horsepower, allowing a top speed of 20.4 knots.

Due to the Austro-Hungarian Empire's geographical location, SMS Szent István was stationed mostly in Adriatic ports. The ship was sunk on June 10, 1918, by an Italian torpedo motorboat during an attempt to break a naval blockade. It was one of the most tragic episodes in Austro-Hungarian naval history.
