Historical description of the cruiser Maya
The cruiser Maya was one of four Takao-class ships and was launched in 1930. After intense operations in the Pacific and the loss at Guadalcanal, the Japanese Admiralty decided to convert two cruisers – Maya and Takao – with the aim of strengthening their anti-aircraft defenses. Ultimately, only Maya underwent a full modernization, receiving modern 127 mm anti-aircraft gun mounts and a significant number of 25 mm cannons. This publication presents precisely this key moment of her service.
Characteristics of the edition
The book Kagero 16058 Japanese Cruiser Maya EN contains as many as 152 detailed 3D renderings, depicting all construction details of the ship after its conversion—from the superstructure, through heavy and light armament, to additional equipment. Thanks to the use of high-quality matte paper, the illustrations are perfectly clear, and the graphic layout makes it easy to quickly find the desired fragments. It is an invaluable source of information for modelers building models in any standard and scale, particularly in the popular 1/350 or 1/700 scales.
