The SMS König battleship was one of the most advanced warships of the German Empire during World War I. It entered service in August 1914 as the first of four König-class ships. König also supported German landing operations on the Baltic Sea and took part in escort missions in the North Sea. After the war, the ship was interned and subsequently scuttled at Scapa Flow in June 1919. The wreck remains at a depth of 40 meters, attracting divers to this day.
