IAI Nesher is a license-built version of the French Dassault Mirage 5, which was developed and manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) in response to the arms embargo imposed on Israel by France in the late 1960s. This aircraft was used in combat primarily by the Israeli Air Force during the Yom Kippur War in 1973, where it played a crucial role both as an air superiority fighter and in strike missions. After its service in Israel ended, many Nesher aircraft were sold to Argentina, where under the name Dagger they participated, among others, in the Falklands War in 1982.

The operational period of the IAI Nesher falls at the end of the Cold War – the aircraft debuted in 1971 and was used in Israel until the late 1970s.
