Historical background and use

The Messerschmitt Bf 109T is an extremely interesting variant of the legendary "109". This was a specially adapted version designed to operate from the deck of the German aircraft carrier Graf Zeppelin. The aircraft received, among other modifications, an increased wingspan with folding wingtips, as well as equipment for catapult launches and landings on a short deck. Due to the delayed completion of the Graf Zeppelin, the produced Bf 109T fighters were used at coastal airfields in Norway, where they protected Kriegsmarine communication routes and port facilities between 1941 and 1944.
