Revell 05683 DGzRS Berlin + Sea King "Good Bye Set" 1/72

The exceptional model kit Revell 05683 DGzRS Berlin + Sea King "Good Bye Set" in 1/72 scale is a perfect choice for modeling enthusiasts, especially those interested in maritime rescue and naval aviation. This unique set includes two models to assemble: the modern German Maritime Search and Rescue Society (DGzRS) rescue ship "Berlin" from 1985 and the Westland Sea King rescue helicopter, which for decades was the backbone of the German SAR (Search and Rescue).

The "Berlin" ship model reflects a rescue unit designed to operate on the North and Baltic Seas even in the most challenging weather conditions. The vessel was commissioned in 1985 and used by the German Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger, a voluntary organization dedicated to rescuing castaways. It is equipped with a distinctive daughter rescue boat placed in a stern well, which allowed for rescue operations in shallow waters.

The second element of the set is the Sea King helicopter model—a machine that since 1975 has been the mainstay of the German Navy's rescue operations. The specimen included in this set features special decals commemorating 45 years of SAR service, referring to the year 2003. The Sea King took part in numerous rescue missions in the Baltic and North Seas from the Cold War era to the present day.

  • Scale: 1/72 – allows for highly detailed representation of the ship and helicopter elements
  • Countries of operation: Germany
  • Period of use: 1985–present (DGzRS Berlin ship), 1975–present (Sea King) – modern times, Cold War
  • Material: high-quality plastic
  • Included: two assembly models, detailed instructions, decals, Revell Aqua Color paints, brushes, Revell Contacta Professional Mini glue, thread for details, poster
  • Category: plastic model kits

This is an excellent choice for intermediate and advanced modelers (difficulty level: 4/5) who appreciate abundant detail and a variety of modeling techniques—especially enthusiasts of maritime and air rescue themes. Unique historical decals and included accessories make this set an impressive addition both to a collection and a diorama.

We recommend this set to anyone seeking a complex modeling project and an interesting challenge, as well as to those who want to expand their collection with models symbolizing the professionalism and bravery of German rescue services.

Scale
1/72

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
