Historical descriptions of selected aircraft:

Spitfire LF Mk.Vb (EN921, YO-A, 401. Sqn RCAF) – Operated over Great Britain in the summer and autumn of 1943, participated in the air defense of the Isles and in offensive operations over Western Europe. The aircraft was piloted by F/O Jack Sheppard, and the unit was one of the first Canadian Squadrons to fly Spitfires.

Spitfire LF Mk.VIII (MT841, U, 2. Sqn RIAF) – A rarely seen variant, operated in the Far East. It served in the Indian Air Force during the turbulent postwar 1940s, taking part in air patrols over British India in the spring of 1946.

Spitfire LF Mk.IXe (TA864, LW-L, 318. Sqn RAF) – An aircraft of the Gdańsk Squadron piloted by P/O Zdzisław Uchwat, used during operations over northern Italy in the final phase of World War II (May–June 1945).
