History of the KV-1A Vehicle

The heavy tank KV-1A was one of the most well-known armored vehicles of the Red Army during World War II. The A version was a development of the basic KV-1 model – it introduced the new F-32 76.2 mm gun, replacing the earlier L-11. Over 800 units of this heavy tank version were produced between 1940–1942. It was famous for its excellent armor and combat effectiveness. The first units reached the front during Operation Barbarossa in the summer of 1941. The KV-1A proved itself especially on the Eastern Front, often being able to easily withstand fire from German anti-tank guns and winning engagements even against early versions of the Panzer IV.
