A-Model 72191 Messerschmitt BF-109X German experimental plane 1/72

The A-Model 72191 plastic model kit represents the German experimental aircraft Messerschmitt BF-109X in 1/72 scale. This kit is dedicated to modelers interested in unusual Luftwaffe aviation projects from World War II.

Unique experimental aircraft model

The Messerschmitt BF-109X was a prototype developed by the German aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt between 1938 and 1940. This aircraft was based on the popular Bf 109 fighter but was fitted with a BMW 801 radial engine instead of the traditional DB 601 inline engine. Two prototypes were built, designated V21 and V23. Their tests provided valuable data on the adaptability of the airframe to various powerplants and the impact of the new engine on performance and construction. Although the project never entered serial production, the BF-109X became an important part of the development of the German fighter aircraft during World War II.

Scale
1/72

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
