The Fieseler Fi 156C Storch is a German liaison and observation aircraft widely used during World War II and in the post-war years by many countries, including Poland. The aircraft was famous for its excellent STOL (short take-off and landing) performance, which made it an invaluable tool for reconnaissance, liaison, and medical evacuation missions. In Poland, Storchs were used by both military and civilian aviation units between 1948 and 1959, including the 9th Independent Liaison Air Platoon and the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw.
