Aber A48105 typ E wing (late) armament for British fighter Spitfire Mk.22/24 (1:48)

Aber A48105 typ E wing (late) armament is a high-quality aftermarket set designed for 1:48 scale plastic models of the Spitfire Mk.22/24. It was created by the renowned Polish company Aber, well-known in the modeling community for its precise photo-etched parts and metal accessories that significantly enhance the realism of finished models.

This set is dedicated to the late "Type E" wing armament versions of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22/24 fighters. These aircraft were the last serial variants of the legendary Spitfire, introduced into service in the years just after the end of World War II and used up until the early 1950s. Their main user was the United Kingdom (Royal Air Force), where they served both as fighters and reconnaissance aircraft. Spitfire Mk.22/24s equipped with E-type wings were used, among other roles, during colonial service in the Far East and the Middle East during the Cold War period.

The Aber A48105 set is made of precision laser-cut photo-etched metal sheets (PE) and high-quality metal parts, including barrels, exhausts, and weapon tips. Installing these parts allows you to replace inaccurate kit plastic components, ensuring incredible detail and scale accuracy, even in the smallest features. The set includes armament elements characteristic of the "Type E wing" – including Hispano Mk.V cannon barrels and .50 cal Browning machine gun breeches and covers.

  • Scale: 1/48
  • Country of use: United Kingdom
  • Historical period: Cold War, Postwar years (1945–1955)
  • Material: Metal (turned parts, photo-etched sheet)
  • Category: Modeling accessories, metal barrels and armament parts
  • Application: Spitfire Mk.22/Mk.24 models
  • Assembly difficulty: 3/5 (for intermediate modelers)

I highly recommend this set to anyone who values a high level of realism and attention to detail in aircraft models. The Aber A48105 accessory is also an excellent choice for modelers preparing competition builds. It enables you to take the popular Spitfire model to a higher level of advancement, both substantively and visually. Assembly requires some skill, but the final results are outstanding.

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
