Dragon 6081 STURMPANZER IV BRUMMBAR LATE, Sd.Kfz. 166 (1/35) – Plastic Model Kit

Dragon 6081 STURMPANZER IV BRUMMBAR LATE, Sd.Kfz. 166 in 1/35 scale is a highly detailed plastic model kit dedicated to enthusiasts of German armored vehicles from World War II. This set allows you to recreate in scale the popular assault mortar – the Sturmpanzer IV "Brummbär," one of the most interesting armored vehicles used by the Wehrmacht.

Historical Background and Use

The Sturmpanzer IV, also known as "Brummbär" (German for "Brown Bear"), is a heavy assault mortar built on the Panzer IV tank chassis. It was developed in Germany and introduced into service in 1943. Its main purpose was direct combat against fortifications and supporting infantry in urban areas. The characteristic heavy superstructure concealed the 150 mm StuH 43 L/12 gun, which enabled it to destroy strongpoints and fortifications.

The "Brummbär" was used during, among others, the Battle of Kursk, the fighting in Normandy, and the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The "late" variant is distinguished by its modified frontal armor and a commander’s cupola with a panoramic periscope.
