Historical data – Lewis machine gun

The Lewis machine gun was developed by American engineer Isaac Lewis and was one of the first light machine guns used on a large scale during World War I (1914–1918). It was used by the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and many other countries of the Entente. The Lewis gun was standard equipment for infantry, aircraft crews, armored vehicles, and observation balloons.

The most famous use of this gun was on the Western Front during World War I, where it was mounted on the wings of biplane fighters and used by infantry units. Its characteristic perforated cooling shroud and drum magazine are excellently reproduced in this Eduard model.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
