Roden 719 OPEL BLITZ (Daimler built, L701 Einheitsfahrerhaus) – model in 1/72 scale

Roden 719 OPEL BLITZ (Daimler built, L701 Einheitsfahrerhaus) is a high-quality plastic model kit in the popular 1:72 scale, faithfully recreating the iconic military truck used by Germany during World War II. This model from the Roden series depicts the details of the famous version with the so-called "standardized driver's cab" (Einheitsfahrerhaus), produced under Daimler license as the L701.

Historical Information

The OPEL Blitz is a legend of German military automotive engineering. The L701 Einheitsfahrerhaus variant was introduced during the second half of the war to streamline and speed up production through a standardized, simplified cab design. This vehicle was used by the Wehrmacht from 1937 until the end of World War II, with its peak period of use being 1943–1945. The OPEL Blitz was widely utilized on all fronts: from Western Europe, through North Africa, to the Eastern Front. It served as a universal transport truck, ambulance, radio truck, or even as a mobile field kitchen.

Who do we recommend it for?

This model is especially recommended for both beginner and intermediate modelers interested in military and historical subjects. We rate the assembly difficulty at 2/5. Thanks to the scale, the model is ideal for building dioramas, displaying Wehrmacht collections, and as an interesting project for reconstructing a specific vehicle from World War II.

Roden 719 offers a highly satisfying building experience – the model is precisely engineered, and the number of parts enables a very appealing final result even without advanced modeling skills. It is an excellent choice for both collectors of German equipment and all military enthusiasts.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
