Historical Information

The Skoda 30.5 cm m1916 howitzer was a modern achievement of Czech engineering, produced by the famed Škoda company in Pilsen. It was used by the Austro-Hungarian Army during World War I, as well as by other European armies in later years, including Germany, Hungary, Italy, and even Finland in the following decades of the 20th century. Appreciated for its above-average firepower, it was used for destroying fortifications during sieges, including at Liège, Przemyśl, Verdun, and in campaigns on the Eastern Front. The variant designated as m1916 was a modernized version—introduced into service during World War I, and also used in the interwar period and, occasionally, during World War II.
