Dragon 7435 Japanese Type 2 (Ka-Mi) Amphibious Tank (1/72)

The Dragon 7435 model represents the Type 2 (Ka-Mi) amphibious tank in 1/72 scale, faithfully depicting one of the most interesting Japanese vehicles of World War II. This is a precisely crafted plastic model kit, designed for both military enthusiasts and modelers collecting armored vehicles from the Far East.

Historical Description of the Vehicle

The Type 2 Ka-Mi was the first mass-produced amphibious tank of the Empire of Japan. It was developed for the Imperial Japanese Navy and produced from 1942. These vehicles played an important role in amphibious landing operations on Pacific islands, including during the battles in the Solomon Islands archipelago, the Marianas, and Iwo Jima. A unique feature of the tank were its detachable, lightweight pontoons, which allowed the vehicle to float on water and, after detaching the pontoons, transform into a standard combat vehicle on land.

  • Scale: 1/72
  • Country of Use: Japan
  • Period of Use: World War II (1942–1945)

Highlighted Advantages of the Model

The Dragon 7435 model stands out for its excellent mold quality, faithful proportions, and many precise details, which will be appreciated by both experienced modelers and those just starting their military modeling journey. The assembly instructions are clear, and the parts fit perfectly, making assembly easier. Thanks to its compact 1/72 scale, the model doesn't take up much space in a collection, yet it allows for an accurate recreation of the original vehicle's distinctive features. Paints and glue are not included, which allows you to choose accessories according to your own preferences.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
