Szacuje się, że w chwili obecnej we wszystkich armiach świata znajduje się ok. 4000 egzemplarzy tej broni. M109 jest napędzany silnikiem Detroit-Diesel Model 8V-71T o mocy 405 KM. W wersji podestowej (M109) uzbrojenie stanowi pojedyncza haubica M126 o kalibrze 155 mm oraz 1 karabin maszynowy M2 kal. 12,7 mm.
The M109 is a contemporary American self-propelled gun. The first prototypes of the vehicle were developed in the 1950s, and series production, which began in 1962, continues today. It is estimated that there are about 4,000 examples of this weapon in all armies of the world at the moment. The M109 is powered by a 405 hp Detroit-Diesel Model 8V-71T engine. In the platform version (M109), armament consists of a single M126 howitzer of 155mm caliber and 1 M2 machine gun of 12.7mm caliber.
